Maintain a rolling window
Do not rehearse the entire sequence. Keep only the latest N items in mind, dropping the oldest item whenever a new stimulus arrives.
Respect no-match trials
Most trials need no response. Avoid guessing: false alarms and missed targets both reduce your accuracy.
Progress gradually
Become consistent at 1-Back and 2-Back before advancing. Focused sessions of 10–20 minutes are generally more manageable than one very long session.

How do you play Dual N-Back?
Each trial presents a spatial position and a tone. Press Position Match or Sound Match when that channel repeats from N steps earlier. Press both for a dual match, and press neither when nothing matches.
How many levels are included?
There are 300 deterministic levels in five 60-level stages, progressing from 1-Back Starter to 5-Back Master. Later stages add trials, reduce response time, and raise the passing score.
What is working memory?
Working memory is the ability to hold and manipulate information over a short period. N-Back tasks continuously update recent information while requiring attention and response control.
How is the Daily Challenge generated?
The date creates a stable seed, so everyone receives the same 3-Back sequence on a given day. It changes the next day without requiring a server-side puzzle database.
What score passes a level?
The game scores correct detections, correct rejections, misses, and false alarms across both channels. The threshold starts at 70% for 1-Back and rises to 78% for 5-Back.
Can I invite a friend without signing in?
Yes. After a round, Invite Challenge opens the same share dialog as the site header. The URL stores the sequence seed, accuracy, and time, so no account or backend challenge record is required.
Does Dual N-Back increase intelligence?
It is a demanding working-memory exercise, but improvement on the task should not be treated as proof of a broad intelligence increase. Sleep, stress, audio quality, and practice frequency can all affect results.
