📘 Electronic Tic-Tac-Toe Strategy Guide
1

Track the fading mark

Each player keeps up to 3 marks. A faded mark still occupies its square, but disappears on that player’s next placement. Mentally remove your oldest mark before planning a winning line.

2

Check threats every turn

Before moving, ask whether you can win now, whether the opponent can win next, and whether you can create two threats at once.

3

Blocks have an expiry date

A defensive mark may disappear on your next turn. Inspect both players’ fading marks: a temporary block is not a permanent defense.

4

Cycle and rebuild your line

From Level 21, both players start with 3 marks, so replacements begin immediately. Tap an empty square; cleared squares can be reused on later turns. Only a line remaining after the replacement wins.

❓ Electronic Tic-Tac-Toe FAQ

How do you play Electronic Tic-Tac-Toe?

Take turns placing X and O in empty squares. Each player keeps at most 3 marks. A fourth placement removes that player’s oldest mark, and this first-in, first-out cycle continues. Connect three horizontally, vertically, or diagonally after the replacement to win.

Why does a mark fade?

When a player has 3 marks, their oldest fades and gets a dashed border. It still occupies its square until that player places a new mark in an empty square. You cannot overwrite the faded mark directly.

How do the 30 levels differ?

Levels 1–10 introduce cycling marks. Levels 11–20 start with 4 marks against advanced AI. Levels 21–30 start with 3 marks per player and use deeper AI search. Starting positions preserve the order in which marks were placed.

Does the round end if nobody connects three?

Not simply because each player has 3 marks or the total move count exceeds 9. Play keeps cycling until a win, a restart, or the countdown ending in timed mode.

How do AI, two-player, and timed modes differ?

All three use the same vanishing rules. Campaign mode offers stronger AI, two-player mode lets two people share one device, and timed mode requires a win before the countdown ends.

How do daily puzzles and friend challenges work?

Daily puzzles use the same seed for everyone on a given date. Winning an AI or timed round lets you share a link containing the rule version, seed, mode, and result without an account. Legacy classic-rule links are not compared with new scores.

Is the strongest AI unbeatable?

No. It simulates disappearing marks, wins, and defensive moves using bounded search so repeating positions cannot trigger endless computation. Expert AI looks further ahead, but is not claimed to be perfect; generated positions are not all guaranteed forced wins.
